As the H&S Supervisor for this growing, dynamic company, your primary objectives are to:

  • Assist in developing, implementing and improving CGCL’s H&S Management System.
  • Implement and/or administer safety, health, and substance abuse prevention programs affecting employee and public safety, occupational health, fire protection and prevention, and equipment and property protection.


  • Serve as a resource for line management to develop and administer a proactive prevention program for accidents and illnesses.
  • Provide technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, regional and/or company health and safety regulations.
  • Keep abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization.
  • Conduct compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory safety, and health standards of the company and all applicable codes are followed.
  • Achieve goals, objective outlined by internal and external clients within your area of responsibility
  • Advise all levels of the organization on interpretation, implementation and continuous improvement of CGCL’s H&S management systems.
  • Act as H&S integrated management system subject matter expert for CGCL.
  • Advise managers regarding planning, implementation and corrective actions /follow-up to ensure sustainable improvement. 
  • Train and coach H&S Advisors and employees enabling them to implement and apply continuous improvement for effectiveness of CGCL’s H&S Program.
  • Report on program progress, assessment findings, and progress to closeout.
  • Gather and analyze assessment results to determine risk and implement effective controls to minimize risk.
  • Produce weekly summary reports on verification progress, findings, and status on closeout of improvement actions.
  • Organize and lead H&S assessments and audits.
  • In coordination with the HSSE Manager, determine personal work methods and set short/long term goals for development & implementation of H&S policies and procedures to meet corporate business objectives for CGCL.
  • Participate in contractor HSSE Committee Meetings and take an active role in improving contractor HSSE performance.
  • Ensure that all data is uploaded in the HSSE Information Management System.
  • Complete, with input from the HSSE Manager, the performance appraisal, both interim and annual, for the HSSE Advisors.
  • Cultivate an environment whereby management commitment and employee involvement are complementary that forms the core of the HSSE program.
  • Adhere to all HSSE policies/procedures and participate in leading indicators that will result in a Zero Accidents culture.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Engineering or the Natural Sciences from a recognized university
  • Certified Safety Professional from a recognized Professional Board would be an asset
  • 7+ years’ experience in Oil & Gas/Process industry.
  • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements


  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Understands the principles of integrating responsibility for H&S within the management system
  • Good understanding of current international standards for H&S systems
  • Knowledge of integrated H&S Management System structure, resources for training and implementation of H&S policies and procedures
  • Proven experience executing key business processes both as a professional and Supervisor
  • Training in the implementation and auditing of H&S Management Systems
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness

  • Highly Proficient in the Microsoft® Office suite of applications
  • Previous experience directly related to Methanol manufacturing or similar processes will be an asset
